You wouldn’t think an energy company based in Connecticut could have an impact all around the world. But in 2015, Crius empowered our customers to make a positive, global impact with their energy choices, avoiding 3,855,763,906 pounds of harmful CO2 emissions, or the equivalent of taking 368,199 passenger vehicles off the road for one year.
And while many companies talk about the importance of corporate social responsibility, Crius goes out and actually makes a difference. Last year and every year, we put the power of doing good locally in the hands of our employees. As part of our Crius Cares initiative, colleagues rolled up their sleeves and logged over 240 volunteer hours, working together to improve the communities where we live and operate. And we even compensated them for it!
Whether it was on the roof at a volunteer solar installation for a low-income family in Port Chester, NY, a multi-office donation drive across every Crius location, or a park cleanup just across the street from our corporate headquarters, Crius was a catalyst for driving positive change in our own backyards as well.
And to compound our hands-on efforts, Crius has funded a major sustainability project on a different continent each year since 2011, bringing solar power, fresh water and sustainable agriculture to rural communities in Brazil, Ghana, Indonesia, Nicaragua and Fiji through our Viridian Energy brand. In early 2016, we traveled to Peru to fulfill our five-year commitment to plant 5,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest – a milestone that marked the culmination of six trips to two countries.
Crius is privileged to offer innovative energy choices with the power to do a little good in the world. And that type of empowerment can only come from building a business that brings value to more than nearly one million customers as well as those who will never be.
